NNAS Training, Equipment and Material Resources:
We have teamed up with Amazon.co.uk so that you can quickly and easily get all the required items you need for your NNAS and Bespoke Navigation training. You will need a copy of the Collins Ultimate Navigation Manual, by Lyle Brotherton, as well as a good base plate compass such as the Silva Expedition 4. Once you have that, you need a nice map case to keep all your maps warm and dry so that you can navigate efficiently and safely whilst you are outdoors.
Collins Ultimate Navigation Manual by Lyle Brotherton: All the techniques you need to become an expert navigator, as well as some expert tuition from our expert navigation tutors! This book forms the core manual of all of our NNAS Navigation and bespoke courses; resources on this website are linked to this excellent book. The Ultimate Navigation Manual is a unique guide to finding your way on land – from the basic principles right up to the advanced technology of GPS. Designed to allow even the absolute beginner to find their way anywhere in the world, it also develops a unique confidence in navigation – with or without technical aids. |
Collins Gem - Little Books with Lots of Information:
Collins GEM is a collection of useful miniature books by Harper Collins. Whilst our navigation skills are what we use when we are outdoors, we normally venture out to enjoy the local landscape and widlife, and these little gems will help ad guide you through a full range of subjects, from Mushrooms to Birds of Prey as well as Badger Tracks and Clouds. The books themselves are very cheap and small enough to take a couple with you when you are out and about. Highly recommended!
Something for the weekend?
As your training progresses, you may find that you want some extra items, from a Petzl headtorch for night navigation, or maybe your first GPS. Below are some recommended items for you, including basic safety items such as a pealess whistle and a pocket first aid kit.
